Altitude, developed by PyGDroid, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Altitude ("we," "us," or "our") handles your data when you use our mobile application ("Altitude" or "the App"). We aim to be transparent about our data practices and comply with applicable privacy laws and Google Play policies.
1. Data We Collect and How We Use It
Altitude does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to any external servers, except as described below for specific functionalities. The data we handle is limited to what is necessary to provide the App's features, such as displaying altitude, speed, routes, and other metrics.
a. Locally Stored Data
- Route details (e.g., GPS coordinates, altitude, speed, distance, time, direction).
- Physical address of your location (derived from GPS data).
- Graphs and statistics (e.g., average speed, elevation gained/lost).
Purpose: This data is stored to allow you to view your routes on a map, generate graphs, and access statistics about your journeys (e.g., for running, cycling, hiking, or other activities).
Control: You can delete this data at any time by removing saved routes within the App or uninstalling the App, which clears all locally stored data.
b. Google AdMob for Advertisements
Altitude is a free app supported by advertisements provided by Google AdMob.
Data Collected by AdMob: AdMob may collect data such as:
- Device identifiers (e.g., Advertising ID).
- Approximate location (if enabled for ad personalization).
- App usage data (e.g., interactions with ads, such as clicks or impressions).
Purpose: This data is used by AdMob to serve personalized or non-personalized ads and to analyze ad performance.
No Control by Altitude: We do not collect, store, or access this data. It is handled solely by Google AdMob and its advertising partners under Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
User Options: You can manage ad personalization by:
- Disabling personalized ads or resetting your Advertising ID in your device settings:
- Android: Settings > Google > Ads.
- iOS: Settings > Privacy > Advertising.
- Adjusting ad preferences in AdMob's settings (if available).
c. No Other Data Collection
Altitude does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or other personally identifiable information.
Features like sharing routes (e.g., via Facebook, email, or messaging apps) are initiated by you and use your device's native sharing functions. We do not access or store any data related to these actions.
2. Data Security
Locally Stored Data: Data saved on your device (e.g., routes) is stored securely using your device's built-in storage mechanisms. We recommend securing your device with a password or other security measures to protect this data.
Data in Transit: Any data handled by AdMob is encrypted in transit using secure protocols (HTTPS).
No Server Storage: Since we do not store your data on external servers, there is no risk of server-side data breaches from our side.
3. Data Sharing
We do not share your data with any third parties, except as described below:
- Google AdMob: As noted above, AdMob may share data (e.g., Advertising ID) with its advertising partners to deliver ads. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
- Sharing Features: If you choose to share routes (e.g., via Facebook, email, or messaging apps), the shared data is handled by the respective platform or app, and we have no control over their privacy practices.
4. Data Deletion
Locally Stored Data: You can delete all locally stored data (e.g., saved routes) by:
- Deleting individual routes within the App.
- Uninstalling the App, which removes all App-related data from your device.
AdMob Data: We do not control data collected by AdMob. To manage or delete AdMob-related data, use your device's ad settings (see Section 1.b above) or refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Children's Privacy
Altitude is not intended for children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no risk of inadvertently gathering information from children. However, if you have concerns, please contact us.
6. Third-Party Links and Services
The App may display ads or allow sharing to third-party platforms (e.g., Facebook, email). These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review their policies before sharing data.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App's functionality or legal requirements. The updated policy will be posted within the App or on our website (if applicable), with the new effective date. Please review this policy periodically.
